Can you have too many?

I am cleaning my kitchen closet yesterday when I realized I may have crossed the line of too many cookbooks.

Gasp! Can that be? Can you really have too many?

I love reading cookbooks. I don't have to be searching for a particular recipe. I just love reading through and viewing the photos and marking the pages. Then when I am looking for a dessert recipe, I can just grab the book and check out my marked pages.

I search for recipes online as well, or again just peruse foodie blogs and mark recipes I want to try in the future.

So I surmise that because my husband has over 1,000 fine scale models still in their boxes downstairs in his studio, I certainly don't have too many cookbooks - at least by comparison.

I can justify anything.

If he complains about the number of cookbooks you have - just remind him everytime you cook something scrumptious that is came from a cookbook.

I say as long as you have room for them and you use them (unlike me) it is fine how ever many you have.

I'm with you. At one point, I considered tossing my cookbooks—anything I'd possibly want to make would be available to me on the internet, and look how much space I'd save...

But I realized, in the nick of time, that I DO like flipping through a cookbook. I even, often, leave one out as a coffee table book, and take them on camping trips. When the day gets quiet, everyone, at some point, flips through them.

Oh! And when the internet goes down, and a girl needs to check, for sure, how to make a fried green tomato, on the fly, it sure is nice to grab that "how to cook everything" cookbook. I did that just Saturday night!

Melody, I just wanted to stop in and thank you so much for the BBM package! I was caught completely off guard today when I found it on my doorstep, and was delighted to dig through and open my treasures. You're so very kind, and I appreciate it very much! I posted about it here: http://stepawayfromthecupcake.blogspot.com/2008/07/blogging-by-mail.html
