I apologize

I know I whine some, not a lot, but some. And I know I've whined fairly frequently over the past year or so about my adult acne issues. I'm sorry. But I do remind you that this is my blog and the best place I have to do such a thing.

So after apologizing, I'd also like to thank you all for sharing your own best acne treatments with me over the years.

What would I do without my peeps?

May I whine?

Our home and auto insurance has increased this past year - fairly significantly. And we've had no claims. Something just doesn't seem right here.

Is it the assumption of the insurance company that we won't go to the hassle of getting new quotes, etc. and just keep on paying these new rates? Or that we won't even notice at all?

Well if it is - they are in for a rude awakening.

Week in Bullets

This past week has been unbelievably busy at work and at home. In fact, work even came home with me every night. I hate that.

I know I've been absent in the blog world so here is a quick recap:

  • Obama/Biden yard sign stolen in broad daylight today
  • Halloween party tonight was fun - crowded but fun
  • Dressed up like a kitty cat for work today - seems odd since I am a dog person and allergic to cats
  • New dishwasher installed Monday and the installer found a dead baby snake on top of the old one when he pulled it out
  • Murphy is leaking more - inevitable I know
  • I only cooked one night this week
  • This week was our last CSA pick-up for the season
  • I had planned to be off this coming Monday, but somebody else had other plans for me - that sucks
  • Don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend

Expectations

It is no secret that I am facing yet another birthday this weekend. I know this sounds so cliche' but time is just going by way too fast. Didn't I just have one?

I've discussed (whined about) in years past about expectations and reality when it comes to birthday surprises and celebrations. I won't do that again.

So what do we have planned for the long birthday weekend?

First off, both my husband and I have taken Friday and Monday off to make it a a nice long weekend together. We may need therapy come Tuesday.

We are taking a one day trip to Cincinnati to shop at Ikea and Trader Joe's. Shocked?

Well, neither of us have ever been to these stores and Cincinnati is the closest. So we're loading up the truck and a cooler and going shopping.

The exact day is still up in the air. It is all dependent on the weather. We want to leave the dogs outside so we don't feel the need to rush back and they are calling for rain and thunderstorms off and on over the weekend. So we are gonna play it by ear.

I shall report back on the goodies we find.

My Sincerest Thanks

I know I have whined about my old age acne for way too long. But I thought I would just report that it has gotten significantly better.

Whether that is due to any of the several treatments you all recommended and I tried? Who knows.

I suppose it could be better because the quantity of fried foods we have consumed has dramatically dropped. I can’t blame it on chocolate because I really don’t eat that much.

Sweets yes. Chocolate no.

More Whining

I know I have whined much in the past about the condition of my skin, so feel free to click on and ignore me.

The particular thing I want to whine about now is that the problem and the acne treatment together are causing my skin to look old - especially around my eyes.

Who knew facing 43 would be so scary in the mirror?

Reliving My Youth

Actually that’s not even true. As a teenager I never had problems with acne – had plenty of other problems, but not zits.

As a 40+ woman, I have more problems now than my entire teenage years with skin blemishes.

I see commercials on TV for things like Proactiv acne cream and as much as I can’t stand Jessica Simpson, I am tempted.

But apparently there are other options out there. I guess I need to quit whining and do something about it.

Not Whining This Time

You have let me whine about my medical conditions and physicians over the years, so I thought I would brag a little.

I went to the doctor today for my 3-month check-up. Yes, he requests to see me every 3 months to monitor all my little problems.

However today, he walked in the room and said "I am happy."

Then began to run through the reasons he is happy.

  • I lost 7 pounds.
  • My bad cholesterol was down were it should be.
  • My good cholesterol had actually increased.
  • My A1c (sugar) was perfect, two times in a row now.
  • My liver is behaving normal and not reacting at all to any of the meds I am on.
  • I did not have a UTI - this would be the first time in a year.
  • In fact, all my labs were perfect except for potassium which was just slightly low. An extra banana a day will fix that.

My doctor was beaming and I think wanted to do a little dance he was so happy.

Geez, wonder what would he do if I lost 20 lbs? The curiosity of that alone might be just enough incentive to make it happen.

My feet hurt. Wha!

It has been a long day, but we are ready for opening day tomorrow.

I came back to the room and took a long shower, put on my jammies, and poured myself a soda. After "pootering" I will fall asleep to the television.

I am too tired to eat. That says a lot.

By the way, why is it 90+ degrees in northern California? I could get this at home.

Many Thanks

I would like to say thank you to the idiot riding his motorcycle too fast that caused an accident with a "glass" truck on the interstate I typically take home causing it to be closed and causing me to take another route.

I would like to say thank you to the idiot who wasn't paying attention while driving behind me in traffic in that other route and literally driving right into the back of my car while I was stopped.

I would like to add a special note of thanks for not having your insurance papers "with you" and therefore causing me to have to call you repeatedly only to be ignored or told you will call back.

Which of course translates into 'I don't really have insurance".

What you do have now is a ticket and day in court for not having insurance or your registration with you.

What I have is a banged up vehicle and sore body....and a hell of a hassle.

Thanks!

Aaaaaaaaaaaah!

Pause for venting.

I am so bored. What I am doing here a blind monkey could do. What an absolute waste of my time and abilities, and their money.

Thank you for letting me blow off steam my virtual friends. Carry on.

p.s. My apologies to all blind monkeys.

A New Day

I have officially declared today the last day I am going to whine. So what if I was sick and in pain, lots of folks are that you never know about. So I am "sucking it up" folks. No cheese with this whine...we're fresh out.
