I Feel Like A Queen

For a housewarming gift, our realtor arranged for a private chef to bring and serve us a gourmet meal in our home tonight. What a nice thought.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect and at the very least was just grateful to not have to cook - but in the end we were so very pleased with the entire experience.

We told him our dietary restrictions - no shellfish or mushrooms (didn't want to die) and no beef (again, don't want to die too soon). He passed it all on to the chef.

So right on time, this very charming lady showed up at our door with a Caesar Salad in hand. Who would not want her in their home? I need to remember that for future housewarming gifts :-))

She plated our salads while we sipped our wine (the realtor dropped off the night before - he thought of everything - so much so that she brought dog treats as well).

The salads were awesome. My husband desires to be cremated and buried in a parmesean container so you have to know how happy he was.

While we ate, she plated our entree and prepared our dessert. We chatted but she was obviously trying to serve us and then leave us to enjoy it. I appreciated that, but I found her so charming that I could see hours of conversation between us....I mean after all she is a foodie.

The entree was served next. It was a chicken breast stuffed with spinach, gorgonzola and bacon with a very light glazing to brown the chicken just perfectly. It was served with sauteed squash and zucchini - get this - from her garden! It had a light rasberry vinagrette mixed with it and topped with a fresh rosemary stem - again from her own garden.

Wow. I am so envious of her. To be able to create meals and serve folks in their home - my dream come true.

She shared that she does larger festivities as well but truly prefers small dinner parties because you can be so creative - sound familiar?

At this point she left. So quickly that I feel bad I couldn't express how much we truly appreciated all her efforts.

She left our dessert on the counter and showed herself out. She would not even let me get up from the table.

Our dessert? Well folks I forgot to take a picture before we inhaled it - but it was fresh blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries in a glass with fresh creme anglais to serve over it.

Note to all my friends and family - when I die I want to be bathed in creme anglais.

So it was a great experience and a big shout out to Kathy Pyles at Taste Buds for a wonderful evening.

All locals - I encourage you to utilize her for your next intimate affair or corporate function. The food was superb, the service was excellent and the experience was special.

Thanks to our realtor, David Ross, for such a thoughtful gift.
