I can't remember the last time I needed to order a birthday cake, but I do know that the days of Wal-mart cakes are way behind me. I certainly prefer to make my own from scratch, but there are a few exceptions. Here in Louisville, there is an amazing place called the Homemade Pie Kitchen or as we refer to it - the pie shop. Besides awesome homemade pies (my favorite is Caramel Apple) and homemade ice cream, they make some amazing cakes, my favorite being Strawberry.
