Everything is better with bacon

A few weeks ago I read how folks were infusing alcohol with bacon, i.e. bourbon, vodka, etc. I even heard about a new bacon flavored vodka on the market.

I decided to give it a go. It is easy to do. Select your alcohol. Fry some bacon. Pour bacon grease into alcohol and let it steep for a couple of days. Put it in the freezer when you are done steeping and the fat will freeze, the alcohol will not.

Some folks were actually drinking it or making mixed drinks with it. Not me. I wanted to use it in a marinade for some good steaks. And I did.

I mixed about 1/3 c. of bourbon, couple tablespoons of olive oil and maple syrup, a lot of freshly round pepper, some sea salt, thyme, minced garlic and fresh lemon juice. I let the steaks marinate for about an hour.

It was really good. I didn't take photos because well, it was looked like a steak. But a really tender, good tasting steak.

Try it.

I love bacon but the thought of bacon in alcohol is just rude! :P
