Thanksgiving Drill

As usual, I am cooking and hosting Thanksgiving for my husband's family. I don't mind, but there is always the struggle to make enough traditional items that they want and getting to exercise my culinary muscles by trying some new dishes.

This year these are a few new dishes I am interesting in trying. Most likely I will do a trial run - a fire drill - to be sure they taste as good as I think they will and that the recipe is correct. You'd be amazed how many times they aren't.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Sounds like my life! I just started the first of a deep cleaning on the house today. I figure that if I clean ceiling fans now they won't be bad when the holiday rolls around...besides they'll be spinning so it would be hard to notice if they were dirty but I will know they are clean.

I saw a neat recipe for parsnip casserole in the November Martha Stewart. I think I'm going to add that to my non-traditional roster.
