Girls Best Friend?

Diamonds of course. What did you think I meant, chocolate?

A friend and I recently had a discussion about engagement rings. She is of the belief that if a man doesn’t feel strongly enough about marriage and commitment to provide evidence of it in the form of engagement rings, then he needs to move on down the road.

I, on the other hand, come from a different school. That is the one called life.

In my first marriage, we started out with gold wedding bands. A few years into it, we upgraded to a set that included an engagement ring. Nothing fancy, but something sparkly on my finger. And something to scratch myself with quite frequently. Those have went by the way of a pawn shop years ago.

When David and I decided to get married, we discussed engagement rings. I really didn’t want one. Now I know there are females out there who would argue that deep down I did – but I really didn’t.

Don’t get me wrong, I wanted diamonds – I just didn’t want them in the form of an engagement ring. I wanted a beautiful diamond wedding band. And I got it.

A gorgeous band of baguette and round diamonds – and a very committed husband (or maybe one that needs to be committed?).
