Blog Party - Favorites

It is Blog Party time again and Stephanie is celebrating the 3rd anniversary of this fantastic event by letting us bring our favorite appetizers and drinks.

At first I thought it would be hard for me to choose but then I realized how simple the choice really was - Italian Nachos.

Deep fried pasta topped with your favorite Italian ingredients. This is a staple with many variations in our home for dinner and for parties.

You can put it together quickly with prepared products or kick it up with some homemade special ingredients.

Tonight was the "no-brainer" style using two secret ingredients that make it go fast:

  • egg roll wrappers
  • jar of 4 Cheese sauce

I know, I know - store bought sauce? A girl does what a girl needs to do when time is a factor. On a lazy Sunday afternoon I have made a four cheese bechamel and it was fantastic, but if you get a good quality organic cheese/alfredo sauce - it is also good.

Start with deep frying or pan frying the amount of pasta chips you need. I have made homemade pasta for this and truly the only advantage of doing that over using egg roll wrappers is you have the opportunity to add flavors - spinach pasta, sun-dried tomato pasta, herb pasta, etc. Go ahead, get creative.

Then gather your favorite ingredients. For us it is crispy prosciutto, red onions, juicy tomatoes, roasted red peppers and the hubby likes jalapenos.

Top your chips with the ingredients and then pour your warm sauce over it all and enjoy!

What goes better with Italian Nachos than limoncello. I mix a shot of limoncello with frozen lemonade and serve cold.

Cheers!

That is brilliant!!

Proof that anything can be deep-fried.

Come on down!

I think deep-fried Twinkies proved that.

Heyyy, I just bought one of those little tiny bottles of Limoncello today, because I've never tried it.

Still haven't, but now I know how to serve it up!

Limoncello is awesome. I like it sip it straight when it is very very cold.

Love the nachos--so creative, and being a big lemoncello fan I love the idea of putting it with lemonade. Great to "see" you at the party!
