Not sure why.

Horses...

Bourbon...

Balloons...

If we were playing Tribond (total 90's flashback), the answer would be:

Kentucky Derby Festival

And I didn't even mention the fireworks.

Just a small display, hardly worth mentioning.

Tonight on my way home I saw many test runs for the balloons up in the sky.

Tomorrow morning will be the Great Balloon Rush Hour Race [like those driving to work need another distraction besides their Blackberry, iPod, and nail polish].

Tomorrow night is the Great Balloon Glow.

Then Saturday morning (weather accommodating of course), will be the Great Balloon Race.

I still don't know what balloons have to do with horse races. Anyone?

Racing used to be the uniting theme for the Derby Festival. There is, of course, the BIG race (with horses), the steamboat race, the run for the rose, the balloon race, the bed (for real) races.

The parade isn't a race. And the fireworks for thunder don't have the race theme.

Bourbon? Well, that's just refreshment.
