The Tale of Three Biscuits

Tartlette shared a story about her epicurious dog eating her goodies and it reminded me of "Murphy and The Biscuit".

This is an infamous tale in our house, one my miniature poodle will not live down.

The story actually begins as we were driving Murphy to the local mall to have his photo taken with Santa Claus (shut up I know). On the way there a deer hit us - literally. I did not hit the deer - it ran into the side of our car.

Fortunately Murphy was sitting on David's lap in the passenger seat instead of bouncing around inside the vehicle like he usually is.

We obviously went back home and was sitting in the living room trying to determine the next day's events - taking car to insurance company, getting quotes from garages, borrowing my parent's spare vehicle, etc.

It is important to note here that prior to leaving I had made dinner and there were three small biscuits left over that I threw in the trash can.

After we had been sitting there for a bit, my hubby stood up to go in the kitchen. He stopped as did Murphy who was in the process of skulking out of the kitchen and heading towards the staircase - with a biscuit in his mouth.

Murphy had this look on his face like "if I don't move, they won't notice".

What he didn't realize was that besides the biscuit in his mouth, there was a napkin stuck to the side of his jaw that apparently grabbed on while he was using the trashcan as a buffet.

He was frozen and was just staring at my hubby. Then, without losing eye contact or moving any part of his body, he opened his mouth and let the biscuit fall - it actually rolled away several feet. But still Murphy never stopped looking at David as though he wouldn't notice if Murphy didn't acknowledge it.

Still not realizing of course that the napkin was still hanging from the side of his jaw.

We both busted laughing and he was confused because he was sure he was in trouble.

You see, that was the third biscuit. He had already gotten the other two and had been taking them upstairs one at a time to eat them. We found the evidential crumbs.

There you have it - the tale of Murphy and the Biscuit.

This is Murphy. As you can tell, he isn't spoiled at all.
