Some very dear friends of ours have alas received their final approval for adoption of their precious baby girl from Nepal. This has been a long journey for them.
It started in July 06 and they were approved and given a placement almost immediately. They went to Nepal in February of 07 and to do the initial paperwork and meet their gorgeous little girl.
It should have taken 6-8 weeks for them to go back and bring her home. However, the Nepal government underwent some major changes/disruption and they froze all adoptions, even those already approved.
So it has been a game of waiting for them. Painful waiting.
They got the word last night that they can come take their baby home.
Share in their joy with me by sending good wishes, prayers, luck (whatever you hold true) their direction for safe and quick travels home with their new family.
May I introduce you to miss Avery Jo Rhohini Harrison.

How wonderful! She is so very lucky to grow up with parents who want her so very much. As you know, life for girls in that part of the world is not good.
I hope someday to be able to adopt a girl from India.
What a long road your friends have traveled.
awwww...she is so cute.
congratulations to your friends!!
does this make you aunt melody?
and do you ever go my mel? i should know this if we are going to become best good friends.
and don't EVER call me jenny.
jen or jennifer will do.
my husband calls me big jen bergman (with the proper amount of respect of course)
you could call me that if you wanted.
mysterygirl: They really have been down a long road. After two miscarriages of their own, they discovered she had cancer and had part of her uterus removed and an ovary, as well as chemo. But they kept trying after the doc gave the go ahead. They are the type of people who deserve to be parents, will make great parents, need to be parents.
Jen (absolutely not Jenny): I answer to anything, Melody, Melanie, and yes for a few, Mel. Ironically though, no one has ever used that consistently except my ex-husband. What I called him was consistent too.
