Cake Deux

As I mentioned, I thought I wouldn't have enough for everyone if I just made one cake. So the second cake was a Chocolate Tuxedo Cake ...and it was to die for.

Three tiers of dark chocolate cake sandwiched in between sweetened whipped cream. Then chocolate ganache drizzeled over the top.
This was the tallest damn cake I have ever made. I did not even use all the batter because my three cake pans were full. In fact after baking I had to shave some off the top to even it out. If I made it again, I would make half the batter and still do three layers.

This picture gives you some perspective of size.

Thanks to Dana for grabbing the camera as I was slicing because the inside is as gorgeous as the outside.

Beautiful!!!

I agree with you though, half the amount of cake for the next time. My favorite part of any cake is always the frosting.

How is it you can make a cake three feet tall by my attempt at shortbread recently resulted in cracker crumbs?

fmm: I would normally agree, but this cake was really good. Beats the hell out of a box cake anyday.

dana: hee hee - it did look 3 foot tall did't it? don't worry I can't make shortbread either

nejyerf: if I could figure out how - I would. I am glad you enjoyed the music and the party was a success. Wish you could have been there.
