I had the absolute best time last night; hands down best evening in a very long time. Let me share.
Of course every evening is doomed to be better when you aren't at work all day - 1st plus.
Then I met my husband and some friends at Riverbend Winery where a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis was being hosted. It was drinks and Hors d' Oeuvres (Spanish tapas).
We had already planned to go for dinner afterwards and on a whim we decided to go to Morton's Steakhouse. We all love Morton's and go once or twice a year, but we never just go on a whim - it is always planned and reservations made, etc. This was way cool.
A friend of our friend joined us and the five of us literally closed Morton's on Friday night. The food was great, the waitor was the best (shout out to Nick), and the company was excellent. We laughed and drank and laughed. From appetizers through creme brulee it was an awesome evening. We have got to do this again soon.
I have to share a funny....my friend Linda (New Year's Eve Queen of the Ball) is so cool and funny. I have never known anyone to enjoy food as much as she does. We give her a hard time about how cranky she can be when she is hungry and how she "blossoms" with food. Of course she is one of those 100 lb. wet, can eat all she wants type that you just would love to hate, but can't.
Anyway, we had all drove separately and Morton's is downtown Louisville, so your best and almost only option for parking is valet. It is $4.00, no big deal - I mean you are about to lay down some serious cash for a meal - what the hell is $4.00? Right?
Well she refuses to pay for valet for a restaurant - why? I don't know, but she drove around and around until she found a spot. We were all laughing so much at the irony of paying $40 for a steak, but not $4.00 for parking.

great story about the 100lb queen. sometimes people just don't see the logic and would rather stick to a principal (cheapness). you also forgot to mention that the $40 is for the steak only! baked potato $8, veggies $6, salad $4.50.... oh i love it though, such good steak and wonderful wines!
Yes, my mother doesn't understand why I pay $8.00 for a tomato. But it is the best Beefsteak Tomato with purple onions and vinagrette you will ever eat.
And the wines...oh the wines.
It sounds like so much fun! I always get the giggles during Morton's tableside presentation. I can understand "we only use the finest cuts of meat, etc." but I lose it when they hold up the potatoes and broccoli like they're something really special. And worth $8 of course.
I know exactly what you mean and I start to feel guilty at staring during the long presentation, but if I don't - I feel worse because the poor guy has this all memorized and I'm not paying attention. Usually, because I already know what I am ordering - double filet mignon here!
potato...blah.blah. broccoli... blah,blah,balh...
just bring my bottle of wine and we will drink our meal first. can't you see we are parched?
