Flip or Flop

I have had a flip camera for several years now and I like the convenience but I wish I had more control over focus, etc. Every time I think I am going to research a more advanced digital camera, I get lost in the rabbit hole that is "click here for compact digital cameras" on various sites. I just wish I could find a resource that gave unbiased information in a less technical manner. User information, not engineer information.
