I've watched Ace of Cakes and Cake Challenges on the Food Network many times and admire the creativity, artistry, and craftsmanship they use to create those gorgeous cakes. However, I have always wondered how they taste. Looks is fine and all that, but I want my cakes to taste good.
So I was wondering around the party and wedding accessories area of the store the other day and saw a bag of pre-made fondant icing like they use. And I bought it. And I tasted it.
Ick!
I'll stick with buttercream.

I am with you on that! I have been told with fondant cakes you should just peel it off-the is usually a layer of buttercream underneath....why? I want it to taste good!
