I love this word. It sounds jolly, fun and complicated - all at the same time.
It's meaning? Not so much.
It is a noun and can be:
- the thin process of tissue that attaches a polyp to the body
- stalk bearing an inflorescence or solitary flower
- a bundle of myelineated neurons joining different parts of the brain
- erect leafless flower stalk growing directly from the ground as in a tulip
- an abnormal proliferation of tissue - as in a tumor
