Pop Some Popcorn

We've watched a few movies lately, some better than others.

Most recently, Changeling. I knew little about this movie before but was surprised and yes I will admit it - impressed with Angeline Jolie's a.k.a. skank performance. It is a dark movie, violent and sad. Even more so when you know it was a true story. I do recommend watching it.

An odd movie we've watched was Revolutionary Road. I love Kate Winslett and she and Leo's performances were great - but it was another dark movie. Dark like War of the Roses without the humor. Worth watching though.

On a lighter note, we watched Horton Hears A Who. It was great - creative, funny and heartwarming. I recommend it for adults and children alike.

An older movie that we never watched when it came out but finally have was Glory Road. I'm not a basketball fan, but it was a good movie. I like movies based on true stories.

Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins was about what we expected. Funny, but not the funniest ever. I loved Martin Lawrence in Nothing To Lose and he must have peaked at his comedic performance in that movie.

W. Not sure what we expected from this movie, but I have to say I enjoyed Will Farrell's HBO version better.

The Handmaids Tale - I read this book ten years ago and had I not, this movie would not have made much sense. But if you have read the book, it isn't bad.

The Secret Life of Bees - I liked this movie, almost as much as the book. That is saying a lot.

I saw the Changeling and liked it well enough. Of the others, I've only seen The Secret Life of Bees and I probably liked it as much as I liked the book - which wasn't all that much.

The Handmaid's tale - that is Atwood isn't it? I can't stand Atwood - being Canadian, we were force fed her work in school - that woman is a nutjob in my opinion. I think you need to be stoned to understand where she is going with her writing.
