I love finding new places to eat. Especially when they end up being just up the road.
We spent the afternoon and evening with some old friends yesterday. First to the Home & Garden show where we walked for hours gazing at custom kitchens and drooling over granite poker tables. Enough with that, let's eat.
The dining spot is called Selena's at Willow Lake Tavern. From the outside you would drive by thinking it was a dive bar - in fact, we have many times.
But inside, it is much larger than you would ever guess sprawling with tuck away rooms and booths. If you had to pick a type of food, I would say Cajun - but with many other options.
I had the ribeye, sweet potato fries and sauteed green beans, along with a decadently wonderful bread pudding with bourbon sauce.

Hubby had the special which was panko parmesan crusted ma'hi ma'hi with shrimp butter and dirty rice, along with bananas foster for dessert.
Our dining companions had the stuffed shrimp and the jerk chicken. No dessert because they had it first - in the form of praline brie.
Everyone was pleased, the liquor flowed smoothly - too smoothly probably. I had two large Long Island Teas and didn't realize until I got up to leave that I should probably have stopped at one. They were good - real good.
We will definitely be back.
