We went to the Louisville Pet Expo yesterday. Saw some beautiful dogs, watched a kissing contest (doggy style) and found the sweetest little girl that I wanted to bring home so bad.
We weren't really shopping for another dog. We have three and though we know once Murphy has left us we will probably get another one, we just don't want to now.
But she is so sweet and she needs a home (like the other million or so out there). She is a 5 month old American Eskimo - just like Shelby. But I think she'll be smaller. Shelby was 10 months when we rescued her and she was twice the size of this one.
Meet Kabuki:

We have went back and forth on this. Before we even left the building yesterday, we turned around to go back and get her and then talked ourselves out of making a spontaneous decision.
David has left it up to me since Murphy was mine from the beginning before I even met David. He thinks I should make the decision of when and which one. Thanks a lot.
She is so sweet and so cute. They named her Kabuki at the shelter and we like that name. God knows they are performance artists so it fits. She was laying down in the crate chewing on her Kong when I decided to take a picture. As soon as she saw the camera - she stood up and posed. What a ham.
Here are the pros and cons as I see them.
Pros:
She is so cute.
Shelby is doing much better with socialization since school that I think it would help her even more to have her around.
Another puppy to snuggle with.
We know this breed well.
Though she is a puppy, this is a good time of year to train since it isn't bitter cold outside.
Cons:
She sheds just like Shelby - so twice the hair.
She is a little girl and I don't know if that is good or bad for Shelby to adjust to. She is the queen bitch right now.
She is a puppy.
It is too much for Murphy - though he is pretty oblivious to anything he can't eat or sleep on.
Help me.
Update: I called first thing this morning and she was already adopted. I hope she has found a good home. [sniff sniff]

I'm probably not the best one to give advice considering I found and got Peanut the same day :)
But I think you should get her. No pros or cons....just because.
I like Airedales, have had three- one at a time! Follow your heart on this one..
She will help ease the pain if you loose Murphy. She needs a home, how can you resist!?
Thanks for all the great advice. I was sad but believe everything happens for a purpose. There are so many dogs out there needing forever homes. Puppies don't usually have a problem, but older dogs do. Maybe that is my calling. Saving an adult dog.
You don't want my advice--I would take home every dog/puppy I saw!
I was thinking about your missed opportunity with Kabuki for several days. Here's my thought.
It wasn't meant to be. Why? Because at some point, probably after Murphy goes to Heaven, there will be a dog that needs a home badly. And you will be able to take it in without hesitation.
Good thing you are now working on socialization with Bear!
