I have officially become my mother.
I bought a bird feeder last week, two actually. One seed bird feeder and one for hummingbirds.
I have never, ever had an interest in birds, let alone feeding them.
Why then, you ask, did I do such a thing?
I can only figure it came from my California trip. My family in Santa Rosa live in a gorgeous area on top of a hill with loads of wildlife around. There were birds, squirrels, and deer daily.

In fact, this was my view each morning. She has two babies with her that you can't see in this picture. And just to give you perspective - this was taken from the deck. She is about 20 ft back and watched me come out of the house and went back to eating while I took pictures. She didn't seemed concerned. I guess when there aren't guns pointed at you, there isn't much to be scared of.

This, on the other hand, was about 1 foot from me. When he landed there, I jumped. He didn't seem to care though.
So within 24 hours of hanging our first bird feeder (yes I said first), there were about a dozen birds fighting over it. So we bought three more to spread around the huge trees around our deck.
And like the old people we are becoming, we sat out there last evening and ate breakfast there this morning to watch the birds.
Needless to say, Bear thinks we have done it just to torture him.
