We received an email from the proud parents who traveled to Nepal on January 19th. They expect to be there at least three weeks to jump through all the red tape of paperwork, but they were able to take her back to the hotel with them yesterday. She no longer has to stay in the orphanage.
Here are a few words describing their first night of parenting:
"After a long ride home in very slow traffic, we finally made it back to the hotel around 7pm. Luckily, by the time we arrived it was Avery's bedtime...she made our first night as parents seem too easy. She fell asleep by 8pm and did not wake up until 6am this morning.
Today has not been difficult, but you can tell that she is not herself. She is quite quiet and timid around us yet. She just wants to be held....and as much as her momma hates to admit this, she prefers daddy.
It may have something to do with the fact that momma was the one that carried her out of the orphanage last night and she's holding a bit of a grudge about this today.
We were hesitant that she might not eat for us since her life has been completely turned inside out, but so far this has not been an issue--she is eating and drinking well.
One side effect from her uneasiness though is that her stomach has been quite upset--daddy's been pooped on already--(sorry Aunt Amy, we forgot to take a picture, but I'm sure there will be more)."
