Friday evening I made spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner. I typically make my own red sauce in large quantities and freeze it. However I am out so I opted for a canned jar of Classico Traditional Sweet Basil. It wasn't bad, wasn't mine, but wasn't bad.
So later in the evening we decided to take a dip in the hot tub since it was a crispy fall evening. Nothing beats sipping a glass of wine in a steamy hot tub when the temperature dips below 50.
When we came back in the house we were immediately hit with a strong smell of seafood. It was very overwhelming and made absolutely no sense.
Today, I brought left over spaghetti for lunch. When I opened the microwave door after reheating it - I was smacked with the same smell.
Now we know where it came from, but why? I went to the website and found no ingredients that should cause this. Anyone want to speculate?
By the way, I threw it away. I don't like the smell or taste of seafood when it is actually seafood (besides the fact that I am highly allergic to shellfish).

Truly bizarre. If there was an 800 number on the jar, I would've called it. I'm with you on the seafood smell.
