I have had the same physician for seventeen years. His partner actually delivered me &#@! years ago.
Being from a small town, he (and most other physicians in town) were general practitioners that did everything from deliver babies to caring for the geriatric set. I have always liked him and respected his decision (though not always followed the advice).

I have a new doctor. An internal medicine doctor. Wow.
Maybe because it is a fresh set of eyes with a different medical background and experience or maybe it is the specialized focus of his practice - but I am impressed.
My fears were unfounded. I had several disturbing lab results that he explained thoroughly and we discussed - yes we discussed - options. I wasn't simply told what would be doing. Some of it is related to the diabetes, some not. Though it is scary and new problems I have never dealt with - he presents it factually but positively.
Afterwards - I told him how much I feared he would suggest insulin. He looked at me with surprise and said "there are so many steps between where you are at and insulin - that is always a last case with me". Hallelujah!!!
He also was very surprised that I was being charged to get a copy of my medical records from my previous physician. He said "it is a state law that you have a right to your medical records". Apparently that is just a Kentucky state law. Indiana physicians and hospitals (I know I worked there) charge.
When my husband visited him they were discussing exercising. My husband made the suggestion of him joining a gym with the money he will be saving on Rx (because this doctor combined and used generics). The doc's reply was "why, the sidewalks are free?"

I think we have found a good one.
Thanks for every one's support and letting me whine.

Wow! He sounds terrific (and I'm so glad you got good news).
Name names. Where'd you find him?
Pure luck is how we found him. I did a Google for internal med docs in Louisville. Narrowed it down by zip so they would be close to our home and David's work. One of the sights listed year graduated medical college so I looked for someone not too young, not too old - about our age.
Dr. Mark Williams - Middletown Internal Medicine
I still need to make some changes, but at least I don't feel like a lost cause.
Fantastic!I'm so glad to hear :)
