Because I know you all really care :-))
We've begun looking inside homes, not just during Open Houses or drive-bys, but working a great realtor who is not only playing taxi driver, escort, and straight man to my husband's dry humor, but providing objective observations. He truly makes this process better.
We looked inside 10 homes last weekend. Each one helped us to define what we wanted and didn't want. Our focus has changed some.
I am amazed at how great a house can look on the website and how absolutely atrocious it is in person. For instance, my previous favorite house - ick!
I wish I had taken my camera to show people the horrific finished (totally subjective definition) basement it had. I felt like I was in a haunted house.
This weekend we will visit a bunch more. Of these, here are some photos. I'll let you know how different they really are after we visit.
This one actually has 2800+ sq. ft. Doesn't look it from curbside, does it?
Huge house. 3300+ sq. ft. on 1 acre. Maybe?
Another one that has more sq. footage than the curbside indicates.
I just realized that this one looks a lot like our current home. Same brick, same window...hmmm.
Me like this one.

It's amazing how "what you want" is tweaked and defined as you look around, isn't it? When I was house shopping, I looked at the greatest house, with a gorgeous brand new kitchen. It had a nice big back yard with a shed...but not a single door or window overlooking it. To access the yard, you had to go out the front door and walk around the house. THAT makes for a cumbersome cookout, doesn't it?
So, "access to the property" went on the dream list.
That is definitely bizarre. Some poor planning on someone's part.
Those are all beautiful. How exciting!
