It is amazing how you can be totally engrossed in a project and within seconds the "wheels on the bus stop turning turning".
My grandma passed away yesterday.
Are we surprised? No.
Are we sad? Yes.
Do we know what to do? No.
After being wishy-washy, I decided that I would cancel the party tomorrow. It just somehow didn't seem right and I didn't think I had the energy to get all the preparations done now.
Energy to party? Yes.
Energy to cook. No.
So, let me tell you about my Grandma.
We had both a grandmother and a grandma - this one is my grandma.
She kept Christmas decorations in the basement and us girls would use the garland as boas and play dress up.
Her cookie jar was always full - but she never baked them. It was always storebought (Archway). She was too busy to bake.
She was wild as a young girl - I heard stories.
All the grand kids always wanted to stay with her and grandpa at the farm. We had to take turns, but once in a while all five of us would be there at the same time - what fun and chaos.
Her and grandpa used to throw square dance parties and us kids would dance the polka.
She always told us girls to wait until we were 40 to get married. We'd never regret it. [She was fourteen she was married the first time, eighteen the second time, eighty the third).
She would make breakfast and then we'd take it to the park and eat it.
When I was in college, she would send me a dollar in a letter and tell me to buy myself a coke.
She always told me to smile - "smile big - smiling is not a time to be timid".
I will try to smile big all weekend, just for her.

Aww, I'm so sorry. She sounds like she was an amazing woman; thanks for telling us about her. You're in my thoughts.
Beautiful memories.
She sounds like a wonderful woman. thanks for sharing.
There are no words to really say, but you are in my thoughts. No matter what age, or situation, your grandparents are in, losing a grandparent is hard. They hold the sun in their granchildren's eyes.
Take care!
Thank you for all your good wishes. The weekend was full of tears, memories and laughter.
I love to Polka dance!
I'll smile real big for her too. That's a great motto to remember her by.
