Day With the In-Laws: True Labor

All in all, my in-laws aren't bad. My father-in-law is loud, deaf (which of course makes him louder), borderline obnoxious (but really, aren't we all?).

My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with AADD and the beginning of Alzheimer's so between repeating yourself twenty times for him and her repeating herself because she doesn't remember she just said that - it can be stressful and comical. Wine helps though.

Yes I had one glass - this will be my third since the doctor said three months ago to only have on special occasions - not too damn bad if I don't say so myself.

We celebrated my mother-in-laws birthday by me preparing dinner for them. The menu:

Yes I actually make individual menus. I did this once for her and now she is more excited by the menu that the actual meal - almost. She actually frames these and hangs them in her kitchen. No pressure there.

I did take a couple shots of the food. It turned out real nice.

And, the grand finale...

This was so wonderful. I torched the top right before serving so the top was warm and crunchy and the area directly beneath had melted just slightly from the torch heat so it was soft and creamy like creme brulee.

I make cheesecakes all the time, have even sold many of them over the years to folks who hate to cook at the holidays and a local tea shop. But, this one was the best ever, forever and ever amen.

I am so impressed! The menu alone made me hungry.
