Like Cory and many others, I have reached a writer's blank. Not a block as I don't believe there is anything on the other side trying to get through. I feel witty, and maybe pretty, but draw complete blanks when it comes to posting.
Maybe I am just physically beat from drilling, hammering and screwing (not the fun kind). But we have accomplished the first leg of this project.
The previous deck had your standard set of steps that were very steep (because our builder was a cheap ass, son of a bitch). We ripped them all down and all the railing on that side and built steps that run the whole side (10 ft.) and made them deeper so they look better and are easier to use.
Of course this meant digging five new post holes and mounting eleven stringers and level and shim and level and shim and level and cuss and level, after we ripped all the old down. But then we attached the beautiful redwood TimberTech composite and it looks booootiful.
I really can't wait until the whole project is done. It has inspired me to have a party. I haven't had one in forever, which is so not like me.
So I am in full party planning mode in my brain. Theme, atmosphere, food, drinks, food, drinks, table settings, decorations - the works! I am thinking an Italian Al Fresco night. Bring a little Venice or Rome into our backyard for 20 of my favorite people.
I'm a girl on a mission.

I love Italian - I'll be there! What time did you say again?
hahaha
Oh, I wish I lived closer. I would invite myself. Just think - all the wine you can drink if you do Italian.
You both can consider yourself invited. I too wish you lived closer as I think we could do some serious damage to a bottle of wine.
This will serve as a reminder to me. Never get involved in deck building or rebuilding of any kind.
You deserve to throw a party after all that hard work!
YOu ARE a girl on a mission! YOu've gotten quite a workout there!
OH and just so you know. Trap Door is the coolest name for a blog. I love your tag line too!
Kasey: I always bitch through the project but it's much like childbirth (I imagine), I forget the pain and frustration and start another one.
Lisa: I wish I could take credit for the saying. I should because there are a half dozen or so people who already do.
i love a nice deck and a cool party! i'll bring a bottle for each of us... sharing is againt my religion!
