Southern Style

I have been in Birmingham since Tuesday and I realize some obvious north/south differences. I shall share:

  • Gravy here is not the same gravy as home.
  • Everyone speaks louder - almost like yelling here.
  • The road conditions suck - okay I guess that isn't much different.
  • I've been called "darlin" in the past four days more than in all my life to this point.

I am here for another week so who knows what else I will discover.

But what about the sweet iced tea, how has that been? What do you mean about the gravity being different?

Well the gravity is probably the same or maybe I could blame new wrinkles on that :-))

But the "gravy" is thin and grainy. I like mine thick, creamy and smooth. Cracker Barrel style!

I haven't tried sweet tea yet. I forgot I was in the region. Louisville is on the border - some restaurants have it, some don't.

Sometimes being called "darlin" is kinda nice.

Have you noticed people moving so s-l-o-w?

Every time I leave the south, I'm always surprised the first time I'm shoved aside by someone wanting to walk around me. I instantly remember, "Gotta get moving like a northerner or I'll get run over!" It's like getting your sea legs when you go on a ship. By the time I get back to Florida, I'm the one running people over!

I'm laughing so hard at myself right now! I've wondered before if I have dyslexia.

Cory: Sweet tea - mmmmm. I am now an addict. And remember dyslexia can be better than ADD.

pants: yeah, but it is mostly old ladies this time.

Christine: the average age of our attendees at this convention is probably 128 - so they are all slow. I always walk fast so everyone is in my way - yankee at heart I guess.
