......I

20 years ago I...
  • was a newlywed living in Phoenix, Arizona
  • worked at a trucking company doing bookkeeping
  • living in an apartment with my new husband and our two cats
  • listening to John Mellencamp and Alabama.

10 years ago I...

  • was in the middle of a messy separation and on/off again divorce
  • worked full time at a hospital
  • worked part time at a retail store
  • was confused and torn about spiritual expectations and limitations
  • was losing weight by the day due to not eating and overworking
  • stinging with the betrayal of my best friend
  • guilty of making bad choices in an attempt to save a marriage not worth saving
  • listening to Martina McBride and Susan Ashton.

5 years ago I...

  • had my associates degree, working on my bachelors
  • still working full time at the hospital, but in a new field
  • living in a brand new home
  • with my wonderful new husband
  • with our two dogs, Murphy and Bear
  • weighed about 30 lbs. less than now
  • happier than I had ever been
  • listening to Bette Midler and Toby Keith.

One year ago I...

  • was mourning the loss of my father and grandfather
  • enjoying the memories of our recent Cancun vacation
  • working in my new job for almost a year
  • had my bachelor's degree for almost two years
  • felt more aware about the world at large than ever
  • worried for my mother and sister who were not in a good place
  • loving my hubby more every day
  • listening to Modest Mouse and Rod Stewart.

Yesterday I...

  • met my husband for dinner after work
  • shopped for new deck material and accessories
  • planned for my trip to Alabama next week
  • drove my brand new vehicle of two days
  • took one of the dogs for a walk
  • slept like a baby
  • listened to Mozella and Elliot Smith.

Today I...

  • made a grocery list
  • finalized travel plans
  • ate oatmeal for lunch
  • downloaded new ringtones for my cell phone
  • listened to Bruce Springstein and Bon Jovi.

Tomorrow I will...

  • will get my hair done and go a little wilder with color
  • meet my inlaws for dinner
  • maybe surprise my husband with a morning tumble
  • listen to whatever my husband has in the CD player.

In the next year I will...

  • lose some weight (have to due to medical situation)
  • redesign our backyard with new landscape and hardscape
  • attend my brother's long awaited wedding
  • be more responsible in my financial life
  • listen to my heart more.

I won't tag anyone, but after having done this - it is almost therapy. I highly recommend it.
