A Different Kind of Medley

Music is a part of our life. Lyrics can take us back decades in a second. They can remind us of past loves, friends we've not thought about for years, and still bring about a little twinge of pain from that first real heartbreak. Music can also motivate us, inspire us to dream, and take us out of the moment when needed.

I need to be taken out of the moment.

To say work is stressful right now is like saying that Tom Cruise is a little weird. To sum up a lot of people's hard work and I hate to sum it up so easily because I know there has been a lot of blood, sweat and tears involved in this process, but approx. 70-90 people out of our 600 will be told on May 1st that their job is being dissolved due to budgets. No one is really safe nor should they be. They are addressing it differently than ever before. So to say that there is some tension at work...would be a little understated.

I have been off with the surgery for over a week. I know it has gotten worse while I was gone. I return Monday and want to help myself be taken out of the moments when needed. So I have decided to create a CD of music that fits the occasion, motivates me, makes me laugh, and takes me away.

I need your help my fellow blogfriends. What song would you put on this CD for this week's listening pleasure? Possibly my final week there.

Lift me up oh wise ones with your tunes extraordinaire.

"Starry Eyed Surprise" by Paul Oakenfold is a feel good mindless song. You may have heard it on that Diet Coke commercial where the girl is roller skating outside.

I hope you don't lose your job, but if you need help with your resume or just moral support, let me know. I'll be thinking of you.

And "Galvanize" by the Chemical Brothers.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I knew I could count on my blogfriends.

Thanks also for the support. I am really not worried, not because I think I am safe, but because I believe someone else is in charge. There was a reason I was brought there and if I go, there will be something great waiting.

Besides you get a six month package, so I'm not sweating it.

However, the offer of another set of eyes looking at a resume - that I will remember.

I don't know how old you are, but I have always had a great memory of childhood with "Crocadile Rock" by Elton John. I used to lay (yes I lived without a seatbelt, or a bicycle helmet for that fact) behind my Dad's seat in our 71 Chevy van and listen to the am radio while we traveled across country. You are so right about the effects of music on our lives.

As for your job, the "MAN" is always in charge and if have that faith, you will be guided to where you are suppose to be. Best of luck.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I have been drowning in music all week. It helped not just as a distraction, but as each song played it made me think of the one who suggested it and it was nice to know that people were interested and cared enough to do so.

One more short day left this week. I leave at 2pm tomorrow for a very overdue haircut.

Thanks again all!
