Roomba or as we now refer to her - "Rosie" arrived yesterday. Start up was simple, and after a couple hours on the charger she was off. The dogs don't quite know what to think. She did a real good job considering what she had to work with. I must say, be prepared for a jolt as to how filthy your house is regardless of what you think of yourself as a housekeeper.
We moved her home base upstairs and I programmed her to start off this morning at 7:15 am and she did. Serves as a good alarm clock too. However, I think after one pass under the bed Rosie decided she couldn't handle the stress and headed straight for the stairs. It was robot suicide!
She had approached the stairs before and her fancy schmancy mechanism sensed the danger and reverse kicked in. This time however, she was prepared to end the pain. After an attempted last minute pause, she tiltered on the edge when gravity or depression gave in and down she went. Thirteen steps to hard floor at the bottom.
The tray came off and all her thus far collected contents came spilling out - a dime, an earring back and a few thousand Shelby and I am guessing David) hairs came flying out.
Prognosis: A bent wheel that made her look kind of like a hunchback as she tried to continue her tasks. Embarrassed at her weakness and lapse of courage, Rosie cranked on across the floor with her tail tucked.

Yes it is wonderful. It does hard floors as well. They have even come out with "Scooba" to mop and shine.
